A few words about gun control

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people."

This is completely true, and is precisely why people shouldn't have free access to guns.

Heh, how about that

It's been over 5 years since I started blogging.

Media rundown

Well, that's been a hell of a couple of weeks, and it's only going to continue. Anywho, on to what I've been doing when I haven't been stressed out.

Watching: DVD- The Host, Pan's Labyrinth, Thunderbird 6, and the original Outer Limits. TV- Stargate Atlantis and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Listening (to): MP3s of Coast to Coast AM, and various music MP3s.
Reading: Not much of anything. Too tired to read.
Playing: Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, Resident Evil - CODE: Veronica X, and Okami.

So, really, not much of anything. While it may seem like a lot, it's basically been in fits and spurts, and only on my days off. I spent last Wednesday in bed, and that's when I listened to 80% of the Coast to Coast shows. (Here's a thought: If it's audio only, is it really a 'show'?)

That's weird

There's apparently a link to my blog from Shonen Knife's homepage, but I'm at a loss to find it, as it's in Japanese. However, I'm flattered, if a little confused, by this.

I'm tired, but I finally got a cell phone

This whole Sympatico fiasco has really worn me out, and I really don't have any fight left in me. Against my own personal sense of justice, I'm just going to roll over and take it, as it's not worth the stress it's causing me. It'll be a $70 sting to my pride, but it'll be over with.

As for the phone, it's a LG 150 from Virgin Mobile:It's pay as you go, and really just a basic phone, but I really don't need much at the moment. I figure it'll be handy until I need something heftier. Right now, I figure it's the way to go until I get over being burned by Bell, and I don't really want to go Rogers at the moment.

Insult, meet injury (contains explicit language)

This just keeps getting better.

My internet cacked at exactly 1PM today, and now I've found out that Sympatico not only did not fix my charges as promised, they nailed me with both an NSF fee and a late fee for their own screw-up. To make matters even worse, when my access did come back, my online invoice had been changed to a new format, and with that format change came a different date than the one before. So, not only did they screw me over, they removed the evidence of it.

Excuse my language, but that's un-fucking-believable.

It's like the old Bell has come back and replaced the new Bell.

Anywho, I've had it. I'm probably going to cancel my Sympatico, switch to Rogers, and I'm going to go to corporate and complain the hell out of them. This sort of crap cannot be tolerated. The kicker here is that I have to do it on my day off, thus spoiling a day due to this bullshit.

(For the record, my internet was back up again when I got back from work, but that's beside the point.)

Redux

Hmmm... how about that. The day after I call Sympatico to sort things out and complain, my internet cacks out. I just got off the phone with them, and my router doesn't seem to work with them any more. It's fine, and it still works, but it won't work with my modem anymore.

Excercises in futility

Okay, so, a series of issues involving Bell and the Royal Bank have effectively emptied out my bank account and neither side will take any blame. Basically, Bell tried to take money from my account a day early, and due to Xmas, there weren't enough funds. They tried this twice, and have caused me to accumulate $70 in NSF charges.

Today, collections called me. That's two weeks later, folks, and it's illegal. In Ontario, and probably the rest of Canada, 30 days must pass before they can call you. To make matters worse, the person who called spoke too fast and too quiet, and my machine could barely pick them up. I had to listen to the message 10 times before I could figure the whole thing out, and when I called the number given by them, I got a message that doesn't say a word about Bell, but spits out a reference number and that's it.

... but I digress.

The Royal Bank says that it's an issue with Bell, they won't budge, and I didn't honestly expect them too. They're too busy harassing the poor and changing policy on a weekly basis to better screw over their customers in the name of more profits. They are a bank after all. I'd expect OPEC to budge on oil prices before I'd expect the Royal Bank to take ownership of an issue.

Bell says that the money was supposed to come out on the 26th, and the NSF fees are my problem, but my actual online statement clearly says the 28th. I explain this to Bell, and it's like I'm speaking gibberish. They absolutely will not admit that my online statement says the 28th, and keep saying that traditionally my payments come out on the 26th, except when they don't.

Is it too much for them to say, "Oops, we made a mistake, let's fix that for you?"

Probably.

Now, they do admit that collections called me, but they won't admit that collections called me to collect. If they did that, they'd be admitting they broke the law, which they did by calling me, but they won't admit it.

The world is insane. It's all entitlement without accountability.

Shoot me now.

(Doesn't this all sound familiar?)
